Expert Interviews

 Introduction

When trying to find experts in the photography field I was met with a bit of a struggle. I reached out to some professors on campus but wasn't able to set a meeting, I then continued on my search for local business photography and was yet again turned away. However, to my surprise, I was able to meet with some spring photographers on campus. This turned out to be far more productive for my potential story arch. To start I met with Sarah Dahlberg, a Media Production major who was able to give great insight into what a photograph can bring to a story. She has shot many senior portraits, organizing executive photos and other personal portraits. The next photographer I talked to was Reilly Kobbe who was able to highlight the impact that social media has brought to photography, she has spent the last few years taking photos.

Technical

Editing this audio track took some new technical skills. One that we learned about in class, was editing the volume levels of an audio track. Some parts of my audio were too quiet and others were too loud and it took some time to adjust this. Another tool that was so useful in my editing process was the article about trimming and extending a clip by "position the cursor over the left or right edge of the clip. The edge‑dragging icon appears." (Adobe,2021). This was such a useful tool because of how long the audios were.

Narrative

A single photograph can do so much, but it can also do nothing! I think that a photo has the power to tell some pretty impactful stories. However, when we are constantly looking at photographs how can we tell what makes a photograph impactful? Social media floods our phones with ads, pictures of friends, and so much more. So, for my podcast, I want to dive into the idea of a photograph telling a whole story. For my arch I want to start with my street interviews of people going back and forth about how a single story doesn't have the power to tell a story to my experts sharing how it is possible, to conclude it with leaving the choice up to the audience and the photo.
